My happy place - Lake Como

My house is in the historical centre of Pognana Lario, around 5 to 8 min from the main road, 20 min. by car from Como city centre as well as 20 min. by car from Bellagio. The house has a large terrace overlooking the lake, the mountains, and magnificent sunsets. With a surface area of 120 sqm, the house dates from the year 1900 and has recently been renovated. It has three floors, two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a separate dining room, and a living room. 

The living and dining room: Here you will find a large L-shaped sofa and a 50-inch television with mostly Italian TV channels. However, all the series and blockbusters are in English. The separate dining room has a table seating 4. The dining room also boasts a vaulted ceiling and a walkway to the terrace. From there, you can access the terrace by a steep stairway. Note: Children are not allowed on these stairs or the walkway without adult supervision. 

The bedrooms and bathrooms: Two separate bedrooms are located on the lowest level of the house. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and an en suite bathroom with a wooden tub. This bedroom also has direct access to a small terrace, where you can enjoy your morning coffee. In the master bedroom, the original stone floor has been preserved. The second bedroom has two single beds and has been completely redone. 

The kitchen: The fully equipped modern kitchen provides a lot of space for you to cook up a nice meal. If you’re in a hurry, there’s also is a microwave at your disposal.

The main terrace: The large rooftop terrace provides a stunning, almost unobstructed 360-degree view of the surrounding area with a great view of the lake, the mountains, and beautiful sunsets. And if you are a fan: Yes, you can see the villa Oleandra, the home of the Clooneys. 

The beach: There is a public beach only 10 minutes from the house on foot. The access to the beach, Lido di Quarzano, is right next to the parking lot belonging to “Bar Sonia” on the main road. You will see the stairs going down from there. Kindly only use the beach towels for your visit to the beach. The beach towels are provided in each room. As my guests, you’ll have access to all rooms but one. The third bedroom is private, as I use the house at least once a month.

🎒 Free luggage transportation: The standard rental fee includes complimentary luggage transport with a motorized cart upon arrival and departure, from the main road to the house and vice versa. 

🕒This service is available:
✅ between 3 PM and 7 PM on the day of arrival
✅ until 12 PM on the day of departure

⚠️  Please note that the service is not available on rainy days. Further details will be provided upon booking.

The garage only fits small and medium size cars. 

🚗 There is free parking on the main road. Please mind that in the high season, it might take a while to find a parking space. 

The bus No. C-30 connects Pognana Lario to both Como city and Bellagio. • Pognana Lario is also connected to Como by ferry. The ferry is just a 20-minute walk from the house. 

Important notices / conditions: 

1. My entire property is 🚭 100% non-smoking (this includes vaping and other e-cigarettes). Kindly smoke on the street in front of the house, should have the urge to do so. Please keep the area and the town clean and do not discard your cigarette stubs on the ground. 
2. The stairs in the house are steep! By booking my property, you acknowledge this and confirm that you will use the stairs with caution. You furthermore confirm that you will supervise any children or elderly /mobility impaired guests while using the stairs. 
3. By booking this property, you acknowledge that you will supervise children when using the walkways connecting to the terrace. Kindly make sure that children do not play on the walkway. 
4. There’s a fireplace in the dining room. You’re welcome to light a candle; however, 🔥open wood fires are not allowed. 
5. 🐾 Due to allergies, pets are not allowed. By booking this property, you acknowledge and accept the above conditions.

Hints and tips: 

• As in most small villages alongside the lake, the house is not accessible by car and can only be reached on foot. 
• If you will not use the courtesy luggage transport: Please take your time to bring your luggage to and from the house. If necessary, make two rounds instead of trying to carry everything at once. 
• 🛒 The Local Supermarket “Pennino” is just a 15-minute walk from the house. Larger supermarkets such as Bennet, Essalunga, Lidl and Carrefour, can be found in and around Como city.
